Fantastic Four: The Universal Guide

Fantastic Four: The Universal Guide (Paperback)
Tom DeFalco | Marvel Books | CBR | ASIN: B001AI2VQ2 | Jan 2007 | 150 Pages | 66.12 MB

This little book is actually a real guide that is not only about the history of the fictional team called the Fantastic Four but of the origination of the comic from its original concept. The guide would be a perfect addition to anyone who has an interest in the history of Marvel or had any questions about the Fantastic Four. The depth of the characters history and evolution is very well documented. Some of the inserts from the comic are so small that it makes the characters dialogue hard to read. This inserts show the growth of not only the story but the art and does not detract in anyway from the guide. The book also contains a page of stickers and an interview with Stan Lee. -- customer review by MA Ramos for amazon.com

This book actually comes packaged as a bonus material with the Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer DVD.

Epic Illustrated Complete

Epic Illustrated Complete
Eng | FS & HF | 32 CBR 2 CBZ | Marvel Comics | Spring 1980 - Feb 1986 | 962.9 MB

Epic Illustrated was a comics anthology in magazine format published in the United States by Marvel Comics. The series lasted for 34 issues, from Spring 1980 to February 1986. Similar to the US-licensed graphic-story magazine Heavy Metal, it featured mature content oriented at an older audience than traditional American comic books, as well as offering its writers and artists ownership rights and royalties in place of the industry-standard work for hire contracts. It allowed regular Marvel Comics writers and artists to try out material that was deemed unsuitable for titles still subject to the Comics Code and also stories using Marvel Universe characters that were risque or non-canon. Unlike the earlier Heavy Metal the majority of the material was newly commissioned. The title was edited by Archie Goodwin. Each issue usually featured a main story, a number of regular serials and short one offs by new artists. A must-have for the serious comics collector.

History
The magazine was initiated under editor Rick Marschall in 1979 under the title Odyssey, and originally set to launch as an issue of Marvel Super Special, Marvel's early graphic novel line. After Marschall learned of at least seven other magazines titled Odyssey, the project was renamed Epic Illustrated and launched as a standalone series. Marschall was replaced by editor Archie Goodwin in the autumn of 1979, several months before the first issue was published.
The anthology featured heroic fiction and genre stories, primarily fantasy and science fiction, but in a broad range of styles. Established mainstream-comics talents as X-Men's Byrne-Austin pencil-ink team, John Buscema, and Jim Starlin, were featured, as well as independent-press creators as Wendy Pini and The Studio's Jeffrey Jones, M.W. Kaluta, Barry Windsor-Smith, and Berni Wrightson. Goodwin commissioned stories by many new artists, including Steve Bissette, Pepe Moreno, Jon J. Muth, Rick Veitch and Kent Williams. The magazine format, which was a first for Marvel, allowed for a broader range of color than the traditional three-color printing process, and many of the stories, and all the covers, were painted. Fantasy artists who did not normally work in the comics field, such as Richard Corben, Frank Frazetta, The Brothers Hildebrandt, and Boris Vallejo contributed covers.
Epic Illustrated also included an occasional Marvel Comics protagonist, such as the first issue's Silver Surfer story by Stan Lee and John Buscema. Because the magazine was not subject to traditional comic books' Comics Code Authority, however, writers and artists were free to create material stories that might be risqué or non-canon.
Each issue usually featured a main story, a number of regular serials, and anthological shorts. -- Wikipedia

Marvel Treasury Edition #1-28

Marvel Treasury Edition #1-28
Eng | RS & Hotfile | 21 CBZ 7 CBR | Marvel Comics | Sep 1974 - 1981 | 1.78 GB Total

In 1974 Marvel introduced us to something a heck of a lot larger than good old Giant-Size comics: Marvel Treasury Sized Editions. The treasury format is an oversized soft-cover format which was seen a few times in the 70's. Tabloid-sized 10” x 13” suckers that were so big (roughly twice the size of normal comic books), they fell over on the newsstand. Most of these issues included at least a few pages of original material, even if the bulk of the content consisted of reprints. Awkward to store properly, these are not expensive, but it is hard to find them in good condition now. All in all twenty-eight (28) Treasury Editions were published. I could say "complete" on the post title but I'm uncomfortable with that nomenclature; for one issue #12 featuring Howard the Duck and the Defenders (Dr. Strange, Namor the Sub-Mariner, the Silver Surfer and the Hulk) is incomplete. Instead of eighty-four (84) pages there are only thirty-five (35 - including cover) in the CBZ file. Nevertheless, the rest seem complete. I say "seem" because I am barely halfway through reading all 28 comic books.
The Marvel Treasury Editions started in September 1974 with 100 giant pages of Spectacular Spider-Man and ended in 1981 with the 68-page Superman and Spider-Man. The latter is the second Marvel/DC crossover ever published, following 1976's one-shot Superman vs The Amazing Spider-Man: The Battle of the Century. Marvel and DC had previously collaborated on a treasury edition of The Wizard of Oz, but this is only the second time characters owned by both companies were used together. It would be followed by several other crossovers in the years to come. Marvel Treasury Edition #28 however was largely the work of Marvel with DC Comics' approval, although it is considered the "sequel" to the first crossover.
Instead of archiving I decided to present the issues individually, so as to provide latitude with choice.
For details, may I respectfully direct you to the authoritative and accurate Marvel Treasury Edition of treasurycomics.com (click). All 28 Treasury Editions are depicted there complete with descriptions, solicitations, front and back covers.

Marvel Adventures: Super Heroes #1-19

Marvel Adventures: Super Heroes #1-19 (Ongoing) Current and Complete
Eng | RS & Hotfile | 19 CBR | Marvel Comics| Jul 23 2008 - Jan 13 2010 | 272.5 MB Total

Marvel Adventures is an imprint of Marvel Comics intended for younger audiences, including small children. Unlike the standard comics published by Marvel, which often take place in story arcs spanning several issues, each Marvel Adventures comic tells a standalone story. Marvel Adventures: Super Heroes is one of three titles currently being published, the others being Marvel Adventures: The Avengers and Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man. It features an eclectic mix of super heroes of the Marvel Universe thrown together in standalone stories that are independent of present continuity.
Two other titles, Marvel Adventures: Iron Man and Marvel Adventures: Hulk, were both canceled after brief runs. Marvel Adventures: Fantastic Four ended its run, after 48 issues, in May, 2009. It was followed two months later by a Fantastic Four Giant-Size Adventures one-shot.
The idea was initially established as the Marvel Age imprint in 2003. The Marvel Age name had last been used as the title of a promotional magazine published by Marvel from 1983-1994. The initial idea for the imprint was to reuse the early plots, written by Stan Lee in the 1960s, in a modern day setting, with new writers and artists retelling the stories. The stories would be published in the standard comic book format and quickly collected and reprinted in manga-style digest size. Several titles from Marvel's failed Tsunami line, as well as several other Marvel series, were also collected in this format and released under the Marvel Age banner.
In 2005 the Marvel Age imprint was relaunched as Marvel Adventures, with Marvel Age: Spider-Man and Marvel Age: Fantastic Four being restarted as Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man and Marvel Adventures: Fantastic Four. This time around, the stories would be original and not based on existing stories. In order to be able to tell standalone stories and to escape the trappings of having to reflect the events of other Marvel titles, none of the titles take place within the primary Marvel Universe continuity. Each title under the Marvel Adventures imprint seems to have its own continuity set apart from the other titles.
The Marvel Adventures imprint carries on the tradition of reprinting its stories in the manga-style digest format and continues to incorporate stories and characters from other areas of the Marvel Universe. The listing of the Marvel Adventures Super Heroes digest thus far published are as follows:
Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man/Hulk/Iron Man: Triple Threat - Collects #1-4
Marvel Adventures Thor featuring Captain America, Dr. Strange & Ant-Man - Collects #5-8
Marvel Adventures Thor and The Avengers - Collects #9-12
Marvel Adventures Spider-Man and The Avengers - Collects #13-16

I decided to forego with my usual practice of grouping the issues according to story arcs or published collections since there are so far only nineteen issues, with issue #20 expected to be released this February 10 2010. Instead I placed all 19 CBR files into a 3-part RAR archive:
Marvel_Adventures_Super_Heroes_01-19.part1.rar - 100.1 MB
Marvel_Adventures_Super_Heroes_01-19.part2.rar - 100.1 MB
Marvel_Adventures_Super_Heroes_01-19.part3.rar - 72.20 MB

The Avengers have barely moved into their new mansion before they have their first visitor, the super villain known as the Plant Man. But Plant Man isn’t crashing the party, he’s asking for help in his battle against a violently berserk Silver Surfer, an interstellar powerhouse intent on planting the Plant Man. How much will the Avengers put on the line to protect a super villain, and can even the assembled Avengers stand against the Power Cosmic? -- issue #19 solicitation, marvel.com
